Satellites - connecting the world

Man has made satellites, and since 1960 thousands of satellites have been launched for military and civilian purposes.  Sputnik I was the first artificial satellite ever launched in 1957 by the USSR and then of course, that triggered a space race between the USA and Soviet Union. The USA's first satellite launched in January 1958.

Satellites used for communication rotate around the equator once a day, turning with the earth.  There are lots of different types of satellites in the sky used for communication and also to gather data.  Here in South Africa, we haven't taken a back seat, we have companies like Skygistics which specialise in providing advanced communication systems, enabling other businesses to position, monitor, track, control and recover and monitor their assets through satellites.

The televisions we watch at home, the weather updates, knowledge about other planets in space, these are all due to satellites, which all have their unique importance to our daily activities. The main focus of Skygistics is to empower our clients; transform their businesses from using our systems to increase efficiency and decrease their costs in operating their systems.  And we do it by  the supply of our technologically superior products which is the Internet, Satellite and GSM.  GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communications.

A GSM phone is a type of mobile phone that uses the GSM Communications to send and receive phone calls.  A satellite phone or satphone is a mobile phone that sends and receives calls using satellites rather than landlines or cellular broadcasting towers. A phone using satellites only requires a clear line of sight to the sky. The advantage of a satellite phone is that it can complete calls from anywhere; operate in the middle of the Sahara desert to the top of Mount Everest, and will be an indispensable tool for remote excursions of all kinds, be it across the land, sky and sea...... This is the way Skygistics connects the world.
